Annapolis Wireless
teamed up to provide live Internet streaming of the Tug!

On November 7 the Maritime Republic of Eastport proved victorious over the oppressors of Annapolis as it held the 12th Annual Tug of War and Tugfest on Second Street between Severn Avenue and Back Creek and at Susan C. Campbell Park (City Dock) in downtown Annapolis. The friendly rivalry was an all-inclusive family fun-fest, benefits local organizations including:
SPCA of Anne Arundel County
Civil Air Patrol
Eastport Elementary School’s Reading is Fundamental Program
Colonial Nursery School Community Playground
Light House Shelter
It featured a Tug of War across Spa Creek to City Dock, and on the Eastport side, live music from local bands including the Eastport Elementary School band, great food and beverages. There was a children’s area with a moon bounce, face painters, art and crafts stations and more on the Eastport side. | Map & Directions
Rockin' local radio station WRNR personalities Alex and Rob were on both sides of the Gulf of Eastport calling the action throughout the day's competitions. And if you're reading this from somewhere in the world outside of Eastport, you could have seen all the action LIVE online thanks to TheSailingChannel and Annapolis Wireless!
On the Annapolis side: The City of Annapolis and the Downtown Annapolis Partnership organized some great activities to create a family-friendly atmosphere for Tuggers and their cheerleaders from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Revelers were then invited to come on over to the Eastport side for the Tugfest, on Second Street between Severn Avenue and Back Creek.
|
On the Eastport side: .As with all things MRE, the goal of the Tug of War and Tugfest is to celebrate the unique community that is Eastport – its people, its business and its maritime heritage, and ... to have some neighborly, competitive fun with our brethren across the harbor.
And we'll had live music thanks to these musicians who donated their time and talent!

Get Involved!
You can join in the fun next year by joining a tug team, signing up without a team (although you will tug as part of one; each tug team will have from 20-30 tuggers), volunteering to help, being a sponsor, or just coming out to cheer.
